Unfortunately, minors are not permitted to attend the Eurofurence Convention. The legal age in Germany is 18, and no exceptions can be made to this rule for legal reasons. As stated in the Terms & Conditions, which are a mandatory requirement for attendance, all attendees must be at least 18 years old on the first day of the convention. This requirement applies regardless of whether a minor is accompanied by a parent or legal guardian, or has written parental consent. This policy is based on youth protection and liability requirements that we, as event organisers, must fulfil. Accompaniment by parents or guardians cannot override these obligations. For example, it is neither practical nor legally feasible to ensure that minors can be promptly and consistently removed from convention areas during the late evening and night-time. In addition, certain convention facilities, such as the Fursuit Lounge, are used as changing and rest areas. Admitting minors would require strict age- and gender-based separation, which is neither structurally nor organisationally feasible within the existing venue. Further legal and insurance-related obligations also apply, which together make participation by minors impossible. The relevant age is your age on the first day of the convention. If you are 17 at the time of registration but will turn 18 before the first day of Eurofurence, you can still register and attend. All attendees must present valid official photo identification (such as a national ID card or passport) when checking in. Providing false information or attempting to attend while underage will result in immediate refusal of entry and may lead to exclusion from future events. Please note that the courtyard area in front of the CCH (Congress Center Hamburg) is a public space. Access to this outdoor area does not require a convention ticket and is therefore not subject to the convention's age restrictions. It remains freely accessible to individuals of all ages, provided they do not attempt to enter any badge-restricted areas within the CCH. Additionally, the official Fursuit Parade through Planten un Blomen is open to the public and can be attended by people of all ages. Beyond Eurofurence, many cities regularly host fursuit walks organised by local groups, typically at weekends. These events are usually not age-restricted and may offer an alternative opportunity to participate in community activities. Information about such events can generally be found online.
