Eurofurence Help Center – FAQ

I am under 18 and would like to attend Eurofurence. Is this possible if I am with my mother or guardian?

Unfortunately the attendance of minors (legal age is 18 in Germany) is not possible at the Eurofurence Convention. There can no exceptions be made from this rule due to legal reasons. As stated in the Rules of Conduct, which are mandatory to accept to attend the Eurofurence Convention, you have to be at least 18 years old by the first day of the convention. Unfortunately due to the very strict Youth Protection Act in Germany, neither any written permissions nor the actual presence of your parents or any other guardian does change this. Your age at the first day of the convention is important. If you are 17 at the time of your registration but turn 18 before the first day of the Eurofurence Convention you can register and attend. Since you will be required to present a valid, official identification (eg. ID or passport) at the time you check in at registration, please do not even try to cheat. In that case you would be handed over to police (since such an inconsiderate act of fraud would be possibly very harmful to the convention) and would subsequently get an unlimited ban from future events. However, the Courtyard Area located directly in front of the CCH (Congress Center Hamburg) is classified as public space. This means that access to this outdoor area does not require a convention ticket and is therefore not subject to the age restrictions that apply to the convention itself. As such, it remains freely accessible to individuals of all ages, including minors, as long as they do not attempt to enter any part of the convention premises within the CCH.
